Updated: Jun 21, 2023

  • 1 cup rolled oats

  • 2 cups water

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional)

  • 1/2 cup mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, etc.)

  • Optional toppings: sliced bananas, chopped nuts, shredded coconut

  1. In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil over medium heat.

  2. Add the rolled oats and salt to the boiling water, and stir well.

  3. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats have thickened to your desired consistency.

  4. Stir in the ground cinnamon and honey or maple syrup, if using, to add some sweetness and flavor. Adjust the amount according to your taste preferences.

  5. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the oatmeal sit for a minute to cool slightly.

  6. Gently fold in the mixed berries, being careful not to crush them too much.

  7. Transfer the oatmeal to serving bowls.

  8. If desired, you can top the oatmeal with sliced bananas, chopped nuts, or shredded coconut for extra texture and flavor.

  9. Serve the oatmeal warm and enjoy!
